Appleton is a city located in Swift County, Minnesota. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 2,871. The town is home to a state prison. It is also home to many retirees and military veterans. It is notable because it has named all of its twenty-some streets after all dead WWII veterans of its town.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 5.3 km2 (2.1 mi2). 5.2 km2 (2.0 mi2) of it is land and 0.2 km2 (0.1 mi2) of it is water. The total area is 3.40% water.
